The advocates of the President's rule in Maharashtra in 2020 has been increasing day by day. Initially, due to the state's failure to control the pandemic, then alleged improperly handling of late Sushant Singh Rajput's case by the Mumbai police, followed by Kangana Ranaut office premises being demolished follow-up with various summons now, and the arrest of Republic TV editor in chief Arnab Goswami.
Well, the Article 356 of the Constitution of India gives the President of India the power to impose this rule on a state on the advice of the Union Council of Ministers.
There are some conditions that the President has to consider before imposing the rule, one such being: If the President is satisfied that a situation has arisen in which the government of the state cannot be carried on in accordance with the provisions of the Constitution.
If the governor so reports, and if the president is satisfied that state machinery is not working properly in Maharashtra, President's rule may be imposed on the state.
